Vonn keeps on winning … 75 wins now

Vonn loves attacking courses and she left little doubt as to what her intentions were: Apart from the first split, Vonn was ahead all the way down, crossing the line almost seven-tenths ahead of second place!

“Yeah, I already have as many wins this year as I did in all of last season, so it’s definitely gone extremely well for me so far,” Vonn said regarding how the season has gone so far. “But it’s a challenge to be able to reset and bring that much intensity to every race. So for me it’s important to press the reset button everyday. Relax. Now, I get to spend time with my dog, but also watch Law and Order. I just need to kind of escape from ski racing for a few hours to be able to calm down and then, you know, get ready again for the next day.”

Vonn is in supreme form at the moment and this win takes her back to the top of the leaderboard for the Overall. This was the 11th time she has won in Cortina and explained that she would love to race there every week!

While Gut has been in strong form this season, she made a number of errors that cost her time. “I had trouble to set up the basic speed. But still there is a 5th place, which is not so bad,” she said after the race.

Kajsa Kling was another enjoy the location. Having taken seventh in the Downhill, Kling went one better in the Super G with sixth place, one place better than she had been last year in the same race.

Corinne Suter put in a run that she described as all or nothing as she took seventh place for her career best result to date.

After the race Vonn explained that she felt that the course setting coaches were trying to halt her progress yet “The coaches have tried to put the barrel against me and I still won. I do not look at the overall World Cup, but try to win every race.”
